Old St. Joseph’s church on Willings Alley is the oldest Catholic church in the United States an ergo in Philadelphia. It was founded in 1733. St. Augustines was founded 33 years later in 1796 to serve the growing German and Irish population north of Center City.

Thanks for the heads up Cheryl. Actually, Old St. Joseph’s is the oldest in Philly but St. Ignatius in Port Tobacco, Maryland, is the oldest in the United States, as it was founded in 1641. I made the change accordingly.
